  • Visa is expected to report fiscal Q4 2026 adjusted earnings of $3.43 per share on revenue of $12.08 billion.

  • Payment volumes, cross-border transaction revenue and operating expenses remain key indicators of earnings strength.

  • Fiscal 2027 guidance could determine whether Visa stock extends its gains or faces profit-taking.

Visa stock (NYSE:V) heads into its fiscal Q4 2026 earnings report as investors assess whether payment growth can sustain its earnings momentum amid rising costs and slowing cross-border revenue growth. Wall Street expects another quarter of double-digit earnings growth, but strong results alone may not be enough to drive further gains. Here are three key things investors should watch before Visa’s earnings report.

Can Payment Growth Beat Expectations?

Visa is scheduled to report its fiscal fourth-quarter and full-year 2026 results on October 27 after the U.S. market closes. The consensus estimate calls for adjusted earnings of $3.43 per share on revenue of $12.08 billion, representing year-over-year growth of approximately 15.1% and 12.7%, respectively.

Payment volumes and processed transactions will be central to the results. Analysts expect total payment volume to increase by approximately 9.1% year over year, while processed transactions are projected to rise by 9.6%. Continued digital payment adoption and consumer spending could support transaction-related revenue.

However, the key question is whether Visa can outperform these expectations. A modest earnings beat may have limited impact if investors have already priced in strong growth. Conversely, better-than-expected results accompanied by resilient transaction volumes could reinforce confidence in the company’s earnings outlook.

Can International Revenue Accelerate?

Cross-border payments remain an important growth driver for Visa, benefiting from international travel, overseas purchases and cross-border commerce. Strong transaction activity can support revenue growth, but investors also need to assess how effectively that activity translates into reported revenue.

In fiscal Q3 2026, Visa’s cross-border volume excluding transactions within Europe increased 14%, while international transaction revenue grew 6%. The difference highlights why transaction volumes and revenue growth need to be assessed separately. Currency movements and changes in transaction mix can influence the revenue generated from international activity.

Operating Expenses and Fiscal 2027 Guidance Could Decide V Stock’s Next Move

Visa’s operating expenses and client incentives will be important metrics to monitor because they can affect how much revenue growth reaches the bottom line. In fiscal Q3, Visa’s non-GAAP operating expenses increased 17% year over year, outpacing revenue growth of approximately 14%.

For Q4, analysts expect adjusted operating expenses to rise around 11.6%, reflecting costs associated with personnel, marketing, professional services and network processing. Fiscal 2027 guidance will be equally important. Investors will look for evidence that Visa can sustain earnings growth while controlling expenses and expanding beyond traditional card payments. A strong outlook and disciplined cost growth could support investor confidence. Cautious guidance or margin pressure, however, could trigger profit-taking if expectations remain elevated.

Can Visa Stock Break Above $410 After Earnings?

Visa shares traded around $404 on October 27, pulling back from the previous close of approximately $408 as investors positioned ahead of the company’s fiscal Q4 earnings report. The stock remains near its 52-week high of $414.57, keeping the $410–$415 region in focus as a key resistance area.

Technically, $402 is the immediate support level, followed by $398. If Visa holds these levels and earnings trigger renewed buying, a move above $410 could open the way toward the $416–$420 region. However, failure to defend $398 could weaken the short-term setup and expose the stock to a deeper pullback.

With Visa stock trading close to its recent highs, the earnings reaction will be important. A strong report and upbeat guidance could support a breakout, while results that fail to exceed elevated expectations could prompt profit-taking.
